I'm reaching out to share an exciting opportunity that has come our way: the chance to host a Youth Exchange student from Japan!
This unique experience offers the chance to welcome a young student into your home, providing them with a supportive environment as they embark on a transformative journey in the United States. Hosting a Youth Exchange student is not just about opening your doors; it's about opening your hearts to a new member of your family.
Here's what hosting entails:
- Room and Board: Provide a comfortable living space and meals for the student.
- Supervision and Support: Offer guidance and support to ensure the student's well-being, just as you would for your own children.
- Inclusion in Family Life: Involve the student in family activities and chores, giving them a true sense of belonging.
- Enriching Experiences: Share your family's traditions, community events, and cultural activities with the student to enrich their exchange experience.
Host families play a crucial role in making a young person's dream come true while creating lasting memories for their own family. Though host families are not financially compensated, they may qualify for an IRS tax credit for each month they host a Youth Exchange student.
Our outbound RYLA conference student has been accepted into an exchange program in Japan, making this an excellent opportunity for reciprocity. By welcoming a student from Japan into our community, we continue to foster international understanding and goodwill, furthering Rotary's mission of peace and friendship.
If you're interested in becoming a host family or learning more about this incredible opportunity, please don't hesitate to reach out to our Youth Exchange Officers (YEO) Debbie or Anita. Together, let's make a difference in the life of a young person and promote cultural exchange and understanding.
Thank you for considering this meaningful opportunity!
